Sure our products will be more expensive to produce because we pay our employees decent wages unlike in Star and or Stripes There's no proof of this esp. with an 80% income tax rate. My citizens have way more personal economic freedoms. Your economy blows because you put a cap on success and break up any rising businesses that would dare compete with the state monopoly. Have you ever met a population that's happy with high taxes? And at your rate? What would anyone work for...this is partly reflected in your high unemployment numbers. When its better to live on benefits than to work, people give up. Welfare rewards laziness.

I'd be happy with taxes if I knew they were actually going to a good cause. As it is in the USA, fuck taxes, seriously.
I do like the system in Nevada, though. Lower/No taxes for everyone! Except the casinos. Like a nice way to tax idiots without running people through an IQ test to gauge their rate. >_>

I finally submitted my issue, I think it's okay, hope it gets in in some form. Here it is if you're interested.
After plummetting Church attendances in @@name@@, an angry congregation of faith leaders and other hangers-on are protesting outside your office demanding to be heard.
not valid for nations with high devoutness not valid for nations with low godforsakenness not valid in nations with a national religion[?]
[option] "This is a disgrace!" fumes @@animal@@arian minister @@randomname@@. "Millions of people in @@name@@ are on the fast-track to damnation because they don't listen to the teachings of our holy @@animal@@ martyr! This government has eroded the position of religion in our society for too long, but there is still time to get those seats filled, by giving this country's halls of worship the funding to give the people what they want, like celebrity endorsement, and cash bingo. Sure, it'll cost them a few tax @@currency@@s, but how can you put a price on your immortal soul?" [effect]the streets are practically empty on Sundays, as people flock to their local Church for holiday sweepstakes. [stats]tax increases slightly (Spirituality and Ethics), devout value increases moderately, crime decreases slightly, public apathy increases slightly.
[option] Robe-clad @@randomname@@, looking nonplussed at their collegue's outburst, begins to speak. "The Creator teaches that wealth is not the path to true enlightenment. The people simply have to be taught how to act correctly. Only by being shown the way, can they open their eyes. By which I mean you should turn over the adminstration of @@name@@'s education system to us! Think about it, you get to announce a healthy tax break, and we get to teach the merits of objective morality!" [effect]Science classes are bumped off the timetable to make way for in-depth religious study. [stats]quality of education decreases, tax for education decreases greatly, tax for spirituality and ethics increases slightly, devout value increases greatly, crime decreases slighty, civil freedoms decrease moderately.
[option] "I can't believe what I'm hearing!" exclaims a lowly sociology intern carrying coffee to your collegues. "If people want to sit at home and watch TV on sundays they should be able to! Isn't religion supposed to be a personal commitment? Why don't we just make the people who want to worship pay for it themselves? That way, the places with the most followers get the most funding. Makes sense, right?" he concludes, before rushing off to an angry shout from an antechamber. [effect]possesionless monks searching for nirvana are forced to choose between spirituality and food. [stats] tax for spirituality and ethics decreases, devout value decreases slightly, public apathy increases slightly
[option] Wannabe philosopher @@randomname@@ steps forward. "This deity stuff is so old fashioned, isn't it? Still, it's true that collective worship has it's merits." they add, placating the fuming ministers. "What I propose is a state nonreligion, sort of like humanism, or transhumanism, or, err, something like that. Actually, I'm not really sure what those mean. Anyway, so, yeah, rather than worshipping some spagetti monster, how about you just encourage people to worship something that actually exists, like..." they wink at you unsubtlety, "our head of state, eh? You can build huge temples to yourself, just like we've all dreamed, eh? It will be totally sweet!" [effect]citizens are 'encouraged' to attend weekly worship sessions celebrating the life and superhuman feats of their glorious leader. [stats]political freedoms decrease greatly, civil rights decrease slightly, godforsakenness increases, devoutness decreases slightly, tax for spirituality and ethics increases moderately, tax for law and order increases slightly, crime decreases moderately, public apathy decreases moderately.
[option] "These metaphysical idiots are all going about this wrong." butts in your finance minister @@randomname@@, sipping a freshly brewed espresso. "What's the use in trying to fill the void in your life with 'worship', when you could be constantly filling it with the latest gadgets, designer clothing and shiny new cars? That way, all of us who have invested wisely in consumer goods can feel the, heh, 'rising tide', mm? And I suppose it will give the economy a boost too, if you're really concerned about that. What do you say? If we make our shopping malls the new halls of worship, all of us can reap the benefits." [effect]families are supplied with leather-bound product catalogues, to pray that they may be able to one day afford the luxury handling of the Myusha XR. [stats]godforsakenness increases greatly, devoutness decreases moderately, all consumer industries (ie not arms manufacturing etc) are boosted, income tax decreases slightly, economy increases greatly, public apathy increases greatly, crime increases moderately, tax for commerce increases slightly.

Divers from a local scuba club have discovered an enormous underwater gold deposit that could be worth billions of golds...
I wonder what the fuck else gold would be worth, yeah? >_>
Edit: Also, stamped Murder and Capital Punishment out completely as causes of death.

Shaoyuan Health Service fuck yeah.
Sides, in Shaoyuan you hardly need money, that's what the government is for. NS just doesn't take that stuff into account when calculating these stats. If the economic simulation was based on anything other than business regulation and tax and on stuff that is actually important like educational attainment and devotion to scientific and technological exellence Shaoyuan would be a clear leader.

One of your advisors has had an affair with his secretary
1) Ban tabloids and criticism of the govt. (first one is tempting but second one no) 2) Fire this guy and put him in prison (get out of my office catholic randomname before I send you to a reeducation center!) 3) Help the public forget about it by giving them a tax cut (FUCK NO)
Dismiss this sort of thing! This isn't my problem anyway.

Tha main problem with your theory is that government tends to stifle innovation. NS is being very generous for the purposes of balance. In reality that level of interventionism, taxation and poor economy is asking for revolt/failed state status.

"Are you all INSANE? This will ruin the health insurance business and drive up unemployment rates," argues Elizabeth Washington, head of the largest insurance provider in Stars and-or Stripes. "If everyone working for their health insurance could suddenly get it free, there would be fewer jobs filled. It would get worse for everyone involved. The government should investigate the motives of these troublemaking 'protestors', instead!"
I was like naaah to that last part, until I reread what the protestors for UHC wanted and they were threatening violence ._. Time to lock up some punks
