I got into a debate with my brother about the ending of The Last of Us again, somehow. I didn't like it, he does. It's really dumb. It negates the whole purpose of the journey. Joel's lady friend dies in vain along with a lot of others. The zombie apocalypse continues. The girl could die five minutes later after the end making it even dumber. It was something she wanted to do. You have some argument to "letting one person die is bad" but first of all, you're letting EVERYONE die to zambies and second, the instant you killed one guy to save her you just broke your own rule. But you also killed a lot of people who were working on a cure too which would be clearly disproportionate to anyone rational. Good job jerkstore. And I was looking over it again today, it's even stupider! Because right before they get to that last scene, Joel and Ellie almost drown. She's pretty much dead. The fireflies save her life and she would've died if they weren't there! If she dies on the table it would've simply equaled out. Then he lies to her and does it all because he's got daddy issues. It just makes me so nerd angry.

But I would have thought you wouldn't be the most natural bedfellow for 'the good of the collective' type reasoning.
