If it was bottlecaps maybe I wouldn't find it as creepy...
The point is charity can do so much good in the right places, charities that are cost effective and dealing with the most maligned and forgotten can save dozens or hundreds of lives from just a few thousand dollars. To me that's a much better way than giving to a school or temple or some such. But I guess every bit helps. I'm not saying people have to do without things they like but I have an issue with excess.

How likely is it you need to cut something at a formal occasion and they don't have knives there, like seriously? Do you carry around an ornate fork too in case you need one of them at a funeral? If you want another $400 knife then just admit you've got an addiction, don't act like it's practical. I mean hell I like stuff that isn't really useful, just gotta be honest. Charity is good though. It's as good a use for disposable income as any. It's a hobby dude Yeah no one fucking needs a $400 knife but it's nice to appreciate the craftsmanship and they're also useful tools which is a lot more than you can say for most hobby items people buy it's akin to buying a nice car, it provides you with some enjoyment as well as fills a purpose, which is a hell of a lot more practical a way to spend money than just shit like games or alcohol. A knife is useful to have in general (I usually end up using my knife at least once a day, often notably more) and extraordinarily useful in rare situations (the life-saving type shit) as far as I am concerned, a knife is a tool worth having at all times I'd rather buy nice tools that see occasional use than nice shit that has no use I actually thought about purchasing the god pack for some people because really outside of the occasional game and assorted expenses I basically only spend money on knives and other people You should spend it on speed . I appreciate the offer, but I'd much rather you spend it on drugs. tempting How likely is it you need to cut something at a formal occasion and they don't have knives there, like seriously? It's a difficult and semantic distinction to make, I feel. It's not a problem, though, unless it's actively hurting him or someone else and it doesn't seem like that's the case. Define "actively hurting" shutting my 0801CF on my thumb hurt a good deal and I think I bruised the bone or something

Nothing wrong with donating money to private schools. If I have a bit extra, people who wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford getting in might be able to now.
Are you planning on living on your own at any point soon? Or do you already? Cuz rent and food costs a lot, especially in NY. You might have disposable income now, but when you're on your own... though of course I don't know how much you make.
Do you practice throwing with the knives or slicing or stabbing or anything? Do you have a display case with all of em for us to see? I'm curious.

It's just not very efficient is all. I really dislike the 'charity begins at home' idea because the need abroad is so much greater.

I live at home precisely because rent and shit is so high in NY that and my dog anyway I make pretty shit pay all things considered, but I drive around in a 22 year old car and my diet is primarily rice and eggs because cheap and simple I'm not bankrupting myself on knives, I have money saved and overall still make more then I spend because I really dont spend money on shit I am aware of the merits of saving money Most of the time I am saving money Some of the time I am buying knives Do not worry about me being financially irresponsible to the point of causing problems for myself Seriously, I'm not stupid, don't worry anywho no I don't throw my knives I used to stab my desk a lot with my ti-lite, was fun stress relief other than that, don't cut much more than paper, not really looking to dull the edge any quicker than need be, although it is sorta a shame to not put some of the harder steels I have to use most of the time I'm just sitting around opening and closing one as for a display case lack one of those but keep all of my knives in one of these www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=144usually rolled up and hung on the back of my desk chair but looking for a nice place to hang it for ease of access

Given blood yet? That literally saves lives and costs no money.

I disagree but whatever the reason I'm barred. Which kinda makes me sick of their constant campaigns asking people my age to give blood. You have people willing, just ignoring them. But that's up to them, if they don't want me then fine.

You could have. This is not an issue where liberal notions of equality should trump patient safety. Males having sex with males in the US are the majority of new HIV cases, because the behavior is so risky. We should not force that greater risk on blood recipients.
