Well actually utorrent has got all shit lately and removed like all the super advanced features like 'sorting torrents by time added' and is holding them ransom until I shell out for 'utorrent plus'.
Because utorrent users are the group with the most respect for the creator's right to be paid, and the least understanding of how to get around paybarriers, right?

Newsgroups cost money. BitTorrent usually doesn't cost any money. True, but Newsgroups is as cheap as $10 a month. So you still save money if you download a game or two music albums every month. Beside that Newsgroups is much faster than BitTorrent and the best servers (if that's the right term here?) often have a lot stuff you have a hard time to find with BitTorrent. On top of that, Newsgroup is more or less "legal" since it isn't directly aimed at downloading copyrighted stuff like BitTorrent, though it might face the same fate as Megaupload. So yeah, Newsgroups costs money, but it's much better than BitTorrent and worth it, especially if you don't have the fastest internet or have a hard time finding specific torrents. utorrent users are the group with the most respect for the creator's right to be paid Wot.

So I went into uTorrent 3.1.2, selected the all torrents list, right clicked on the header row of the list, checked the Added column, then sorted by it.
According to that, in the last month, I have:
1) Downloaded a redundant copy of Photoshop that didn't do what I needed it to, namely have a functional Photo Merge feature, like the full installation of CS5.5 I have idling in my Hackintosh setup. 2) Downloaded the Windows XP Driver Developer Kit. 3) Downloaded an old DOS game from Underground Gamer. 4) Updated my MAME ROM set from 0.143 to 0.145 using 20GB of downstream from Demonoid, then stopped that torrent after a while and began seeding the equivalent torrents on Underground Gamer. 5) Downloaded all of the soundtracks from the latest Indie Game Music Bundle, which I paid for. 6) Downloaded a sample converter utility that ended up being rather glitchy, and therefore probably not worth buying anyway.
I suppose that could be worth spending $10 a month on. I also end up downloading the first few episodes of a new series from TVTorrents to decide if it's worth watching the rest, but usually end up recording the rest of it from commercial television with a DVR tuner box.
I already told Ally about Usenet ages ago, I guess she doesn't find $10 a month or so to be worth it for all that content she isn't missing anyway. Besides, it's way too complicated to figure out how to use a NZB indexing site and a binary news reader like sanzbnd. Much easier to futz around with shitty direct downloads and Youtube.

Yeah, and I save even more money because I don't pay anything and besides I think it's a moral ill for piracy to be done at profit.

It's indeed complicated, but there are plenty tutorials on the net to help you out. Yeah, and I save even more money because I don't pay anything and besides I think it's a moral ill for piracy to be done at profit. I never said you'd save more money with Newsgroups, my point was that it's cheap and that you'd still save plenty money if you download via Newsgroups. And people only stick with Torrents because it's 100% free. Cheap bastards.

It's indeed complicated, but there are plenty tutorials on the net to help you out. Tell that to Pyro, then. I would have no trouble figuring out news readers like that, if I cared. Yeah, and I save even more money because I don't pay anything and besides I think it's a moral ill for piracy to be done at profit. Not to mention people who don't want to commit to a regular expense for something they're not sure they'll use all the time, or don't want to get into the obsessive habit of using constantly. Then there are those weirdos who refuse to get bank accounts and/or credit cards, so they have no means of paying for things on the Internets.
