"Why would you trust big business any more than a government?"
Since Obama's inauguration, a record number of individuals distrust big government according to Gallup, so I'm in good company. Here's why.
Every problem ever faced by mankind came from government failure. That the state is an unnatural arrangement is clear. James Madison writes that if men were angels, we would not need laws. St. Augustine writes that the placement of authority above others is part of man's fallen nature. Government, like war and other issues, becomes a necessary evil. Man has not found a way to completely eliminate these problems, but should continue to work against them so that there are as little of them as possible. But there are those who want to grow the problem instead of shrink it.
Every single criticism of a bad business can apply to a bad government, and then some. Why would anyone trust big government over big business? They paint these businessmen as rich, powerful and dangerous when all they can really do is raise their prices. They cannot force you to shop there at gunpoint, but government can. A corrupt government can tell you that you need to buy this product or you will be taxed and mandated out of existence. Businesses fail on their own if they're bad, bad governments resort to their army so that their removal is only accomplished through second amendment solutions and loss of life. Why would anyone in their right minds believe "a few are rich and powerful economically, so let's give these few people more political power as well to deal with some folks we don't like." Are they surprised when their even more powerful creation turns on them?
As we look back through history we observe "good" kings and "benevolent" slaveholders. Nothing about their positions were good, but they were seen as such mainly because of their comparison to others. What are the qualities of these "benevolent," "compassionate" leaders? They were less oppressive than most. They lashed and mandated their subjects less. While acknowledging that this is good, are we really supposed to thank them for it? We should assume we are free citizens first, not subjects only given some freedoms out of the supposed compassion of the ruling statist class. When the so-called leader of the free world says "you didn't build that," but he's going to be nice and let some of his friends keep it, and says we should thank him for it instead of protesting his abuses, are we to give up and go away on the thought that things could be worse? Free individuals built everything, and yet government swoops in for credit. You hear some Democrats talk how all the tax money should belong to them, when they never made anything in their lives, and argue that taxing anything less than 100% of an individual's income is the state "paying" you. These arguments are entirely backwards and have their root in pride, the ultimate scourge of mankind.
It is said absolute power corrupts absolutely. Then how are we to explain those "good" kings and "benevolent" slavemasters? Man has some principle left in him. It is the greedy who grab for the most. I would argue that the order is reversed: absolutely corrupt men pursue absolute power. Because of this, government should always, always be mistrusted, with the most powerful levels being mistrusted the most. This nation was founded on the belief that no man's ambition can override an individual's religious belief, his right to free speech, his right to assemble without government intrusion, and yet we are seeing mandates and regulations and IRS harassment from an evil administration. While businesses compete to get me into their doors, I am seeing a governor who thinks I should be driven out of my own state. Why would we ever trust these people to do anything right, with a long string of constitutional violations and an $18 trillion debt behind them?

Obama is da man for dissing Putin as a regional power? TaiIs82 says no.
When Kristallnacht happened FDR's response was pretty much the same, he said he was shocked something like that could happen in the 20th century, as if the passage of time makes human nature magically improve. Barack Obama has made similar statements on Russia this century. It isn't the first time, and it won't be the last, but that's all they are: statements. So Obama dismisses Putin's actions just as Chamberlain thought he could write off any further action by Hitler, because he made a statement. Meanwhile these words did nothing to help the people inside and surrounding Germany, or the people of Crimea who had their territorial rights violated. The only thing that fixed the problem was action. We saw it from Bush. We won't see any of it from Obama.
This is one of the biggest problems of this narcissistic administration. He believes the words he reads off the teleprompter will be enough to keep Putin and others from further actions, even as they've failed so many times in the past. These countries don't care what Obama says. They only care if they know he's going to act, and when he sits back to watch Syria gas and kill over 135,000 people despite his promises of "red lines" and "no more Rwandas," you can be pretty sure he's not going to act against far more powerful nations when they start carving up their spheres. Barack Obama's foreign policy is a failure, and no amount of verbal diarrhea is going to change that. By refusing to acknowledge that these are global problems, Barack runs an administration that's a problem in itself: the man who will sit back and watch as millions lose their rights and their lives.

Hm?
I had page 2 of liberal contradictions left open, so here's some of it
BobGeorge - Claims to be supporter of women's rights. - Allows accused rapist and adulterer to be keynote speaker at the 2012 DNC.
TaiIs82 "There's nothing sacred about marriage...if you oppose gay marriage you're a bad person and against what Jesus really says!"
"The Republicans rigged 2000 and 2004 elections!...Don't go looking for fraud because it doesn't exist."
"Terrorists only hate us because we're there! The surge won't work! If we pulled troops out of the Middle East, they'll change their minds!...Bundy is a terrorist and the best way to deal with terrorists is to send a bunch of men in to crush them!"
"Love and tolerate...stop talking! Stop quoting from conversations I don't like! I'm marking you! My ignore list is full!"
My favorite one is when some liberals push for regulations that end up just leading to strengthening the strongest of corporations by reducing competition, but aren't these corporations who the liberals claim to despise?
Oh that's a good one too. When liberals want a powerful state against corporations.
"We don't like that some people have too much economic power. Let's give a bunch of economic and political power to government!"
BobGeorge - People should be free to do what they choose. - Supports heavy taxes on cigs, sodas, gas, etc to in an attempt to alter people's behavior.
fire810 we should be tolerant of all religions ...F******* christians!!
souljah11 "I can't believe this ceo donates to anti gay politics he should resign......I'm ok with a ceo donating to anti gay politicians he's a civil rights warrior..."
kiwimyweewee The south is terrible and are takers, welfare produces positive results
unknown "make weed legal, prohibition doesn't work!" "ban guns!"
Crazy Lu Bu Killing a pregnant animal makes you responsible for two deaths, and you should be tried in court accordingly. ...Abortion is just removing a parasite from the body.
We should boycott companies for spying on us because privacy transgressions are not acceptable. ...Unless the government is doing it.
Conservatives are extremists with blind faith in religions which they want to use to control our lives. ...Blindly believes in government authority.
We're free to be who we are!!!!!!!!! ...Accept it or we'll change who you are by passing laws against your bigotry.
You're a crazy person if you think we're going to enact legislation to take away your gun rights. ...Crazy people deserve no gun rights.
TaiIs82 "White flight is racist...Gentrification is racist"
"When an American goes to another country, wants to speak in English and pushes them around, that's arrogant and imperialist...but it's fine when an immigrant comes here illegally, doesn't learn English and demands free welfare, jobs and drivers licenses."
Monolith1676 Let's ban guns.....only for us to sell guns to criminals.
TaiIs82 "Let's ban fossil fuels...right after I make a fortune selling off my network to Qatari oilmen and fly home on my private jet."
"Marijuana never hurt anybody...hate speech hurts my self-esteem! We have to ban e-cigs! There's autism in the drinking water! Carbon is threatening all carbon-based life on the planet!"
"Obamacare is so great, we're exempting ourselves from it."
"An abortion is the same as health care. That health care policy you just lost wasn't."
"We should give bailouts and big subsidies to cronies...how do all these businesses keep getting so rich through government loopholes!?"
"Embrace our atheist view on the greatness of reason...everyone knows the earth just appeared out of nothing, and everything, including reason, is just meaningless and made up by random chance."
"So the job market is bad for another month. One month doesn't mean anything bad's happened, neither do all those other months on record, you can't prove anything by all that evidence...omg! I heard from a Democrat that a Republican plan is going to kill grandma and global warming is on its way! This is definitely proof something bad will happen because we can predict the future!"
"Personally, I oppose abortion. It's just that I'll support it in public 24/7 if it's easier for my political career. I'm moral where it counts, it's just that you'll never see it. What do you take me for? I swear, it's not like I'm a heartless, dishonest sleaze in private."
"Obama was right to go into Libya...Obama was right to stay out of Syria."
BobGeorge - Decries scare-mongering used to rally support for war. - Claim the world will be scorched in ten years unless we act NOW!

With a warning comes responses that shall be put on hold. Here are tonight's. www.gamefaqs.com/boards/261-politics/69090059Letting the left "own" climate change is an absolute blunder. Why? If a single Republican (or in Obamacare's case, none) latches on and their ideas fail, we all know every Democrat out there will scapegoat and say it was his fault, brush it off saying "he believed it too," and so on. Let them own it, and let them sink with it. Here we go right on page 2 Cap and Trade was reintroduced to deal with ACC last decade by Republicans, as an alternative to the carbon tax - John McCain was a major supporter of the idea. Exhibit A, Redcount. What Bahamut won't tell you is that McCain later moved away from climate change issues, precisely because alarmist predictions have been wrong. But since people like him fell for the lies and went maverick, it has hurt our party's image and gave these programs a false sense of legitimacy. The only thing you do when you go moderate is surrender, help the Democrat agenda and let them "own" you. www.gamefaqs.com/boards/261-politics/69098411Nitro is basically arguing that welfare is an undemocratic imposition on society. Fifty years later with the poverty rate remaining static, we may also call it a failure. Redistributionism does not work. I'd support a system similar to what TC's advocating. I think I'm just gonna write a check for defense and be done with it. If the law doesn't change before I do, so be it. such a rule would render it impossible to operate the government at all The Athenians did it well enough. The left is just afraid that no one would pay for their baseline-budgeted, government-imposed waste and pet programs. They think $18 trillion against our next generation's future is a good bet. Government is hardly operating right now, and it's because the forces of statism are not listening to the people. They fund our decline with a steady stream of cash borrowed and taken from the pockets of taxpayers. It's time to turn off the spigot. mob rule would be way worse (which is basically what happens if you give people that much control over the budget). I'd just like to see individuals more responsible for their decisions and have more liberty to make the best choices. It's their money, they decide, no decision would be imposed on them. The only way it would be "mob rule" is if we allowed people to fund government agencies that went after others who didn't pay for programs they don't want - which is already what the IRS does. www.gamefaqs.com/boards/261-politics/69094637Liberal contradictions. "Why do you like your life? Why are you happy with the way things are? You're privileged! Look at all these good things you have while others don't! It has nothing to do with you being a responsible person! They're poor because you made them poor! That's evil! We should take away your privilege! I can't wait until the revolution when the privileged are put in jail or shot and the rest are out starving in the streets!...I don't get why all these people like conservatism and not us? They're voting against their best interests!"

The whole “false rape accusation” thing is pretty much the epitome of rape culture. I mean, false accusations do happen, but why are you so certain that’s what’s happening to you?
To say “I know I didn’t rape you” is to say “I know your experience better than you do.” It is to claim that you get to decide what ‘counts’ as someone else consenting.
Anyone who isn’t a rapist (or who doesn’t want to be a rapist) would, upon hearing that they made a sexual partner feel uncomfortable or violated, try to find out what they did wrong so they can not do that again. If you don’t want to know where you went wrong, it’s because you want deniability for when you rape more people in the future.

if you didnt rape someone then you didnt
