Otherwise decent articles like this frustrate me for one reason: they are always telling you what not to say to someone. That's the extent of their advice. Don't say this, don't mention that, and this person was an absolute jerk for bringing that up. These articles keep telling me what not to say. What should I say? What do you want me to do? Can you give me concrete suggestions, and none of this vague, "Just be supportive," BS? Because of things like this, whenever there are problems, I tend to say nothing at all.
