How can they be the same when Fall is an American thing, and matching up fall or "end of the year" with when I have Autumn starting in March don't match? So they can't be the same thing.

Autumn in England and NZ are the same thing though. Autumn is a season.

Where I live Fall is in September-December because it's an American thing, and I use Fall for release dates. "Coming Fall 2010" etc. But Autumn is Match-June for me, thus they are not the same.
