A written test first to get a learner's permit then one field test to get the full.

still have a little over 3 months until I'm 17 and can get my full license (yay drivers ed)
I do need to schedule and take my road test though, might as well do that soon

In Nz there are 3 driving tests. One theory to get a learner license, then a practical, and that means I can only drive during the day and no passengers unless they have a full. And then another harder practical that get me the full.

In the US there is the written test(a joke) to get the learners permit with a permit you can only drive with someone who has a license and you cant drive after a certain time then the road test pass that and you get a junior license this lets you drive with one passenger (used to be 2) or alone, but you cant drive after 9pm when you turn 18 (or 17 if you took Drivers Education) you can get your full license oh and you cant drive in New York City until you're 25 |

Here if you're 18 you just have to do Driver's theory and practice (the actual driving) at once. However, you MUST pass your theory exams before the practice exams and do the practice in less than a year after passing the theory exams.
