Socialism just makes the competition fairer. Are you kidding me? The whole point of it is to have someone step in and give a certain group benefits.

Government's role is to stop monopolies, not become one. Government's role is to serve the people, not to ensure competition.

The people are best served when the government steps aside.

If the dictatorship was compassionate and did what was best for everyone, why would I have? Out of idealistic principle? You assume the presence of a benevolent dictator; I would agree if this were the case. Unfortunately, people are jerks, and power corrupts. Your dictator wouldn't be benevolent for long. Of course I would oppose a dictatorship if they were a dick. I'm saying if they were a "good" dictator, I wouldn't rebel just because "freedom". I dont think having a good dictator is impossible. iirc Ancient Rome had some good examples. A fair amount of Kings and Queens could be counted too. I don't know how you would really "decide" who becomes a dictator, but you know. I don't think it should be dismissed out of hand.

Socialism just makes the competition fairer. no, the government just takes over to fuck over the ones who succeed Succeeds at what? Successfully fucking over all their competitors and the general public? Besides, anyone who gets to the level of influence where they are at any threat from the government probably has more than enough money to live the rest of their lives in opulence.

Like in the Industrial revolution?... A great example of progress and innovation? Sure. And of unregulated industry that killed workers daily through lack of care, and of floorless pay that ensured the workers would never get a fair wage?

Not for long under socialism. People won't work harder if they get punished when they succeed.
