A great example of progress and innovation? Sure. And of unregulated industry that killed workers daily through lack of care, and of floorless pay that ensured the workers would never get a fair wage? Cry me a river. Of course there were growing pains. |

Succeeds at what? Successfully fucking over all their competitors and the general public? Besides, anyone who gets to the level of influence where they are at any threat from the government probably has more than enough money to live the rest of their lives in opulence. Not for long under socialism. People won't work harder if they get punished when they succeed. You don't get "punished" when you succeed, you get taxed so people who are less well off can enjoy basic amenities. You still have more money at your disposal than most people would ever hope to reach. |

The government should play the role of a referee, ensuring that both sides play fair.

Why does the lazy bastard who drops out of highschool get to live off the guy who worked hard his whole life? |
