The truth of the matter is that it's a Street Fighter clone, and was even made by the same exact people.

Or you could say it's a Marvel Vs. Capcom clone, in which the only thing different was air combos.

Roy had fire, upsmash hat multiple hits, etc.
Pichu was lighter, had self damage, fsmash had multiple hits (iirc), etc.
Dr. Mario was heavier, pills went as different angle than fireballs
Falco had a different laser, his dair was a spike, etc.
Ganondorf was heavier, no knee of justice, etc.

There are no true clones

It is of the same series as MvC, still doesnt make it a clone

P1 Mario and P2 Mario are not clones because they're different colors and they're controlled by different people

technically they arent

Ken has multi hit hurricane kicks that dont knock down, Ryu's hit once but knock downs

Ryu has a slower, stronger shoryuken, Ken's is faster and weaker
