I think I'm pretty creative/good at storytelling, it's just more like the stats and detailed planning I might struggle with... But I'll do my best, I'm sure it'll be mostly fine.

No, I'm against that. It'd be way too confusing.
The idea of choosing the generic DnD fantasy setting is that it's easier to focus on our characters as they go on a new adventure every week at 9/8 central and pacific as opposed to other settings which have more focus and more of an overarching plot.

You can do the exact same thing in other game systems >_> plus it means you avoid dungeon crawling and shit
But I agree trying to modify the existing game would probably be a clusterfuck, though it's a nice idea
If need be I'll do my best in generic fantasy land and I'm not trying to throw a bitchfit, just thought I'd register my objection (though if I'm DMing I need to learn all/most of the rules anyway and since I don't know DnD well enough by heart to not do that anyway I feel like it wouldn't matter if we changed game/system)

Cool. So let's leave this up till, say, tomorrow night that way everyone who wants in can see it and join, then maybe 7 or so whoever wants to be in can join a group chat and we'll discuss specifics.
Meanwhile, Nitro, since you don't know the rules and we're not adapting them either way, do you have access to a manuel to learn?

Wellll... no, not to hand, but if it's DnD we're going to go with I'm sure I can torrent something.

Another reason to like Misspent Youth is it's way simpler and less statty than DnD by the way

I wouldn't mind learning a new game, I feel it's not so fair to Nitro to learn an entire game, DM and player stuff. It's quite a lot. That said Nitro, if you're game, message me on Skype and I'll transfer the pdfs.

We can play Ponies & Parasprites aka ponyfag D&D (but let's not) At my college we're playing Gamma World, which is pretty much a setting where all possible universes, fictional and otherwise, have been mashed together into an anachronistic mess. So pretty much, anything goes. You make characters by randomly picking two randomly assigned character classes, and picking whichever one is more dominant. And the possibilities are all over the place. And it makes it easy to put together a new character, takes literally a couple minutes. And thus dying isnt toooo horrid, since you can pop together a new character quickly. And it just uses regular old D&D 4E mechanics otherwise. On our first day, our party, consisting of a speedy warrior housecat, a nazi-engineered living antimatter furnace, a sexy vampire-human hybrid, and a nightmarish hawk knight, encountered Bill Cosby wearing power armor and jellyfish people, rat bikers, and a giant badger with chains of death, and uncovered a massive hidden staircase underneath a fountain leading to the Utopian city's catacombs. Every battle you get a new randomly-attributed radiation-granted superpower, be it intangibility, growing a thick coat of fur, or shooting psychic blasts. It's a lot of fun and is pretty much all genres you could want at once Sooooo that's one option. Yeah.

And abilities they all have and stuff? The Gamma thing, not the ponyblarg

Not on me, no. You'd have to go googling to find everything. I did a little glancing around, there seems to be at least 50ish different character class things. And you pick two, so... there's a lot of combinations Your starting gear and loot you find are all also random, there's like two separate lists of like 50 and 100 items of varying usefulness and stuff that you roll for. When would we play this even?
