I might want to stream tonight, pretty much all depends on another person's schedule if I do it'd be starting some time between 6 and 10pm, probably in the 8-10pm range just figured I'd give a heads up

Probably won't be able to make it today.
But that's not my reason to come in to this topic. <_<
I was gonna ask, does Twitch provide its own program for streaming whatever's on your PC? Is it free? CPU intensive? Easy to use?

There are two decent free streaming programs I'm aware of I use Xsplit atm, it's free or licensed (free version is limited in terms of quality and framerate but still good enough for my means) however I'm looking into open broadcast as it's entirely free and has none of the limitations the free xsplit has
xsplit is pretty easy to use at a basic level, set bitrate, framerate, and resolution, select mic, select screen region it becomes more complex if you want to only stream select audio, as it streams your default playback device (I remedy this by using virtual audio cables and the "listen to this device" feature built into windows, VAC is not free but can easily be 'acquired')
as for cpu intensive yeah, it kindof is, as you're running the game while capturing and encoding footage with xsplit but really can't hurt to just try things out and see also, bandwidth is a big limitation on the quality at which you can stream
I'll write up a more in depth post and link some stuff when I get home

Thanks, that'd be a huge help.

Well, for using xsplit basically want to install the justintv/twitch plugin and set up your account on xsplit, need to put in the stream key for your twitch account/channel, google helps with finding this here's where you tweak your bitrate and codecs under 'view' you set the resolution and framerate for the stream, you can scale the viewport down if you want the xsplit window itself to remain smaller (I stream at 720p with the viewport scaled to 50%) typically, at the start of each stream you want to go to file -> new presentation if you dont start a new one each time it can sometimes be buggy and 'cause slight framerate issues after that, typically you're adding a screen region, nothing hard here, then resize it in the viewport to fit the screen under tools -> general settings you can set your mic, some other shit, which resolutions show up in the 'view' dropdown, and hotkeys if you want to stream select audio sources, only way I know of doing it is with virtual audio cables, I typically use 1-2, never really needed more than 3 or 4 since xsplit streams your default playback device, I set Line 1 to that (Sounds -> Playback) then under recording (Sounds -> Recording) I go to Line 1 and select "Listen to this device" and choose my headset, this means everything that is played through Line 1 also comes through my headset, so I can actually hear what I'm streaming anything I don't want to stream I have the audio output set to either Line 2 or my headset (typically mumble and vlc), if it's on Line 2 I do the same thing as with Line 1 and listen to it with my headset, if I want to add it to the stream I can easily do so by listening to Line 2 with Line 1 you can also set a VAC as your mic in xsplit if you want a bit more control as to the volume of things or if you want to stream something other than your default playback device (I do this when streaming a movie, by putting vlc on its own VAC, setting said VAC to my mic, and muting everything but the mic on xplit so only that one VAC is streamed the only sound you hear is from vlc, aka the movie. I then tend to turn off the screen the movie is playing on and watch it on the stream myself, as there is always stream delay and it makes for a more fun experience when watching something with someone when you aren't ahead of them) lastly, this is useful www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=309480

also, if VACs are static-ey, disable them and open the controller to reset them all, happens from time to time due to cpu usage and I probly forgot stuff, idk, hit me up on steam if need be

I dislike using the SFD group for announcements when I stream but also cba contacting people individually or always posting about it if I ever have the whim to and I doubt people will sub on twitch so steamcommunity.com/groups/laharls_streamfor anyone interested if and when I randomly stream

if I get back into playing sc2 regularly, would people be interested in watching me stream ladder games? It'd be mostly silence during the matches but I could talk over things after the game and possibly go through the replay, since I should be doing that regardless to improve so yeah don't know if I'm going to get back on that horse but if I do should I bother streaming it, i.e. are people interested in watching me flail and curse my sloppiness as I crawl and scrape along trying to make my way back towards plat

haven't streamed stuff in a while and was thinking about it could get back to DkS but I got the impression people really didn't care all that much for/about it could maybe stream our magic matches on octgn but dunno if there's interest there
also been laddering on sc2 again and it's going to be a looooong climb if I want to get back to Plat. So, again, I might stream those. Would most likely be in the afternoon or evening on weekends with random times weekdays. But again, not going to bother if people don't care or are not going to watch (although if people do I'll do my best to explain the match afterwards while going over the replay)
other than that, new xcom expansion just hit and I mentioned maybe doing xcom a while back thing is, if I'm going to do a playthrough (akin to DkS) I want to set up a schedule rather than just whenever so let me know if you're interested and if so when works for you (specific times, specific days) if people don't care enough to try and turn up at a scheduled time each week (or however often) then fuck it I wont bother
