"I'll save these here for one night" became 1 month later. So here's all of them from last month or so!
xxx state of the union
xxx return of xander cage
the life of david gale - wow that ending was pretty silly
kill ratio - cheap
it - maybe it was the modern day production values spoiling me, but the first version didn't impress me that much. I will give it points for the adult side and not having such an evil town. Bullies are actually bullies and not slasher killers.
space warriors
The Silencers, Murderer's Row, The Wrecking Crew, The Ambushers - wanna see Dean Martin play a knockoff James Bond? There you go.
ernest goes to africa
ernest in the army
the hunt for red october
ash vs evil dead season 2
patriot games
clear and present danger
hit & run
i, daniel blake
the killing of a sacred deer - s*** kid the movie
thank you for your service
the judge
god's pocket - "If we stop listening to. Leon Hubbard's story and all the neighborhood stories like it, eventually the neighborhoods will stop listening to ours."
broken flowers
king of california
passengers (2008)
haywire
lost in translation
we bought a zoo - with bro. Well...that was something.
the cooler
the foreigner
spice and wolf - this feels incomplete, though I'm glad it ended better than what was suggested
dracula - english and spanish versions. Yeah, the Spanish one is better.
the pope's toilet
marked for death
a dangerous method - there's ugly, there's crazy, and then there's ugly crazy, which is this acting
friday night lights - play or die
lucky you
funny face
manic -
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhGrupduVYw s*** kids the movie
hard times
the signalman - now there's an apparition you don't want to run into
nowhere in africa
cats and dogs 1-2 - woooow, ok, compare this to something like homeward bound or just watch the thing and they went way overboard with the cg, and it can be so jerky. The start was way sped up at parts and by the opening credits I thought it was vomit-inducing. But the rest of it wasn't that bad, you just never get used to the cgi because it's so glaring and they go back and forth between that and muppets.
the quiet american
all the pretty horses
pirate radio
seven psychopaths
searching for sugar man
chicago
the big bang - I could listen to Antonio Banderas say "tabloid website" all day
killer elite
ernest goes to camp
ernest goes to jail
ernest scared stupid
the parent trap
the parent trap ii - predictably lame sequel
hannibal rising
elle - probably the worst movie I've seen in the past year. But if you like an overly-long French movie that revolves around a repeated rape and workplace harassment, there you go.
hannibal tv show - dinner has never looked so evil. I don't care if Hannibal hands you a bottle of water, don't drink it. It tends to drag, particularly the third season which is an upset from the previous 2 seasons, gets laced into the books set track and removes Hannibal from action. Highlights are the cellist and silo murders.
lost in paris
dick francis mysteries (blood sport, in the frame, twice shy) - very dated computer crimes going on here. "You can store a huge amount of data on this. 1.2 megabytes!"
chisum
all about eve
anthropoid - takes a while to set up but good showdown
the last waltz
the way way back
kung fu yoga - there's some uncanny valley CGI going on here. Dunno if this is normal for movies in this market, as I don't have a habit of watching them. Jackie Chan's fight gags are brief but golden.
meek's cutoff - relive the oregon trail with 200% more random ambling and almost none of the action!
the hitman's bodyguard - 9.5/10, loses some due to its predictability though.
salmon fishing in yemen
seeking a friend for the end of the world
last flag flying
woody woodpecker
mune
king henry v
mr turner
a man called ove
murder on the orient express
beauty and the beast (1946)
what we do in the shadows - 8.5/10
the ballad of lefty brown
the last emperor - it was an all right movie, but I just have no idea why the critics freaked over it
crimes and misdemeanors
a midsummer night's sex comedy - man, woody allen comedy is drier than proper british comedy
tora! tora! tora!
we were soldiers - those legs...
the limehouse golem
half of a yellow sun
hacksaw ridge - 9/10
hamlet 2 - would've been better if the whole thing was the performance
criminal
Standouts are The Judge, Pirate Radio, Hacksaw Ridge, some parts of What We Do in the Shadows
