About the 25 day Strangeways (Manchester) Prison Riot and takeover over inhumane conditions for prisoners.
The new governor on the reopening of the prison in 1994 (and the reforms implemented after the end of the occupation):
"The better conditions in here are not down to the prison department. But for the riot, we would still be in the same old jail banged up all day and slopping out ... The rioters brought this about. These conditions ... should not have cost the lives of a prisoner, a prison officer and two huge court trials. They should have done it years ago but it took a riot to get them to do it."

Spent the last hour out in the cold sitting on a bench reading
my jeans feel like ice and my hands are so cold hey feel like the slightest thing could cut them
now that I'm back in warmth I can't stop shaking, can barely type this
only came in because it started to snow/hail
why don't I do this more often?
