Great rematch with the Rhino.
Interesting. So Spider-Man around this time is seen as a big youth idol even among leftists, who ranked him around or above Che Guevara in Esquire mag. Then there's a campus protest and Parker brushes them off. Then in this issue, Spidey's life is saved by a cop and he does some cheerleading for law enforcement, while Jameson is a skinflint because he wants to make sure the government is paying for his son's recovery. Most readers at the time sent in letters hoping Spider-Man would remain middle-of-the-road.

The vote to bring Spidey into the Avengers. "I don't want him because I'm The Wasp and wasps have a natural aversion to spiders!"
...Getting too much into the persona there.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
As a youth, I came across several passages that left me in stitches (although the zebra crossing joke was much funnier when I thought that "zebra crossing" meant "a place where zebras cross"). However, now that I'm an adult, with a dead lifeless chunk of coal where my heart used to be, I'm finding the stories to be little more than a series of disjointed events, too incoherent to really enjoy. The way Douglas Adams keeps implying something big without following up on it is isn't helping. And the Peter Pan sex was just bizarre.
Speaking of, the whole thing about flying really should have just been left at the humorous description of, "throwing yourself at the ground and missing," but became much less funny after three pages of description, and became stupid after it became important to the plot.

Kraven follows others with his scent-tracking powers. Okay, if this is the case, couldn't he have identified Spider-Man's secret identity when he raided a party with Parker there a few issues previous?

Kingpin, baby! Don't mess with Kingpin. Unless you are a superhero and wanna stop crimes. But still, don't mess with him.

They never unmask Spider-Man when he passes out.

Spider-Man fights the Human Torch again, after "stopping a crime" that was just a movie scene, again, and then goes into the movies to make some money only for it to be a trap, again. But it did make more sense for Mysterio to be behind it this time, rather than Green Goblin.

Spider-Man has lost his memory! But at least the good part is...okay, so there's no good part. What's gonna happen!?

Spider-Man vs Medusa is a fairly weak matchup, the "fight" is short as most of the story is spent on a guy trying to get her to advertise a hair care product. Why is Gwen still mad at Peter when she knows that Capt. Stacy was brainwashed now? She could think this out and accept that he attacked Pete first. Very quick resolution to Medusa though, since this is an irrelevant crossover visit and she immediately goes back home: almost right after the hair fight, the company head gets instant news of the fight, a drop in product sales, and a board vote that kicked him out of his job all within one panel. That was fast!

The Spectacular Spider-Man! Well, the first attempt at it, until it died down and eventually became the secondary series years later. 2 issues, the first in black and white. Spider-Man fights a giant monster who turns out to be a genetically modified GMO dude created by a corrupt political candidate. The monster attacks his campaign and the underworld is paid to conduct false flags so he gets in power as the anti-crime guy. He wants to turn everyone into his big dude slaves. He suffers the same temper as Molten Man, which makes you wonder how he got where he is if he always flew off the handle like this.

Spider-Man travels all the way to Albania to learn the truth about his parents, and Red Skull doesn't seem curious as to why he's asking about the Parkers. The Finisher? More like the baby who dies quick. Spidey also conveniently finds the secret double agent card hidden inside the Red Skull membership card. End story! The Fantastic Four gave him a ride there, but now we're left to imagine how he gets home.
I got volume 3 so the now reading shall continue!

Versus Man Mountain Marko!
A lot of Spider-Man's problems would be resolved if he would talk to people instead of running away from them. He could at least think up some excuse and tell them that! This time he has the special tablet, and the cops think he was an accomplice with Kingpin. If they won't listen, how about lowering the tablet down on a web or drawing people to it with the spider signal, along with a note explaining things? But instead he swings off with it and keeps it around so they say he's a crook. Then he shakes Jameson around enough to send him to the hospital - and Jonah's got the ol' cigar in mouth even when he's passed out on the bed.

Jameson acts nice (in his own way) to cover for the would-be Prowler against his racist boss. The Prowler repays him by making the Daily Bugle the site of his first robbery. Tsk tsk. But don't worry I suspect he'll turn good.
