I bought and read the hardback deluxe edition of The Killing Joke, and maaaaaan is that story overrated. Like, it opens with Batman trying to reconcile with the Joker, but Mark Hamill escapes and sexually tortures both Barbara and Jim Gordon, but when Batman comes to the rescue Jim is all like, "Eh, I'm okay, just make sure he's arrested plzkthnx," and so after George Clooney punches Heath Ledger in the face a few times Adam West is still all, "BUT WE CAN STILL BE FRIENDS"
NO!
No no no no no!!
The good thing about it is that it laid the foundation for The Dark Knight, which ended up going over the same themes more skillfully.

I'm reading Chi's Sweet Home, and right now Chi is going through the cutest existential crisis ever.

Found out the illustrator of the scary stories books also did a Holocaust allegory for kids, which is just sad to think about. I imagine the guy is Ned Flanders by day until he steps into his drawing chamber and the walls are lined with disturbing things.

Deep Trouble II Scream School (series 2000) Monster Blood
Somebody got monster blood on this copy of monster blood. Hope it was just ordinary water and not the toilet or something.
Uhh spoilers? Stine has a trope and it's always to do the chapter-cut scare that turns out to be just a prank bro. In the case of Scream School, the whole thing is a prank. For times when there actually is a monster, the pranks will be frontloaded to the first half as we build up to the threat.
The end of Monster Blood confuses me and brings up more questions than answers. What was the witch's plan here? She enslaves the aunt for 20 years and like, does nothing else. Then she has to kill the kids because she can't wait a week for them to leave? They only know too much because she revealed herself...and what do you think killing them would do? Nobody's going to ask questions? For the happy ending, the monster blood can only kill the witch that created it for some reason, while everyone else who suffocated in it for the day come out fine. Bad way to kill people (or anyone but yourself really).

Fugitive from the Cubicle Police
This had to have been the big Dilbert seller, because I've seen this at sales like 4 times in a row. My grandma had it.
No Goosebumps this run :\

Legend of Zelda Art and Artifacts
This was a very thick one, at least 1,000 words per page

I think I'll savor this Spider-Man dealie with an issue a night. Some of these I've read before with reprints. Jameson sure hates the wallcrawler for no raisin.
Edit: for now at least

Spider sense is that wacky plot device that will keep things going. idk why Chameleon assumes he can transmit a message through it, or how he knows Spider-Man has it, or why it works.

Spider-Man vs the Terrible Tinkler! Yes, I am still 5. The green aliens are familiar but the name escapes me, I was never impressed by them. As you may know, the aliens in comics are not my preferred characters. They rank down there with the fairy tale elf-ear characters. There's only so much belief I can suspend in this fantasy world! Go back to stopping the commie agents.
Doctor Octopus, great dialogue during a meltdown. "The radiation levels are goin' wacky!" "He's absorbed way too much radiation and I don't know if he'll survive. Poor guy!" Sad! Pat him on the head while you say that.
Mailbag - everybody's address is here so you could try writing to them if they're still around. I saw what you wrote 50 years ago and I disagree! Some of these ideas about where to take Spider-Man were bad. Quite a few backhanded compliments here. This issue was drawn better than your usual stuff, Ditko.

Spidey takes on the Sandman, but that principal. What a hero. He drew the line in the sand at a diploma. Most would think that writing up an invalid diploma for a dropout supervillain would be acceptable to avoid getting killed. Not this guy.

Strange Tales Annual #2, in which the Human Torch fights Spider-Man. Spidey has been framed for stealing stuff, but mostly because the Torch is mad at the headlines he's getting (even negative ones?) The Torch can direct his flame to fit a keyhole...ok and what does that do? More like melt a hole through the door. But what I really like is that Spider-Man knows where to find a convenient abandoned chemistry lab in the neighborhood that has freezing agents for his webs.
Longer Fantastic Four Annual where Spider-Man fights and doesn't join with them. Featuring the electric web cage and other fun web things. The electric web was plugged into the wall.

I liked the rematch with the Vulture. That time when you break your arm and say "Zowee!"
Somewhat strangely, a letter refers to competitor echh comics and the response is you shouldn't talk trash about the competition.
