More stuff on globalization. Neither good nor bad in itself, needs some guidance but not complete control by international community.
Also some things on Libya's human rights violations under Gaddhafi.

Church social teaching on the economy and human rights.
Status of the contraceptive/sterilization mandate tacked onto Obamacare. More Evangelical groups come back to the Catholic church. The issues faced by children of sperm donors. Something interesting about Steve Jobs: he wouldn't allow porn on the iPhone.
TIME is wondering if China has an economic bubble.

A bunch of stuff on soil. Yes, boring old soil.
Article on low recidivism rates for prisoners over 40, making some wonder if life sentences should be shortened to save money.

Army values. Consideration of others. Planning procedures.
Primary sources on Diocletian, one of them being his maximum price edict. Dunno if I brought this up before, but it stemmed from a bad understanding of the economy. The empire's currency had been devalued by earlier emperors, and what resulted was very high inflation. The army wouldn't accept payment in silver anymore because it had lost its value. Diocletian believes the high prices are due to greedy merchants trying to rob his men of their salaries, so he passes an empire-wide price ceiling on dozens of goods. The penalty for violating the ceiling was death. Naturally merchants can't sell things at the lower prices demanded or they'd go out of business, so they withdraw from the market or get into behind the scenes black market stuff. The edict was quietly abandoned after a few years, a failure.

“Outspoken criticism of Christian beliefs should be expected, but the stealthy attempts to make believers look absurd is much more damaging,” he said. “Once faith has been made to look ridiculous, the attempts of believers to rebut the criticism will be met with deaf ears. And then the line between ridicule and persecution becomes even thinner.”
Exactly what I've always said. You don't change people's minds by logic, you change it by embarassment.

As part of a BBC Radio Ulster debate, Mrs Robinson used the biblical word ‘abomination’ to describe homosexual practice. She also recommended that homosexuals seek counselling if they are struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction. When the incident hit the headlines in June, Mrs Robinson pointed out that her criticism was directed at the practice of homosexuality, rather than homosexuals themselves. “I was very careful in saying that I have nothing against any homosexual,” she said. “I love them – that is what the Lord tells me, to love the sinner and not the sin.”
Oh no, these people's inspirational and reasoned speech is being curtailed!

Pheonix Wright judge: ...I'm sorry, but I don't see how.
Anyway, there were some bad examples on that list but equally plenty of them were justified.

I read...career tests. One that lists "military drill" and "campaigning for office" under the leisure activities section.
