Statement of fact. He could do all those things if he worked for them. Much like how I couldn't marry anyone at the moment ,but I could hope eventually if I put in the right amount of effort.
Other groups with genetic/environmental factors behind their issues: -Fat people: "I can't stop eating." Yes, they can. -Depressed people: "I have nothing to live for." Yes, they do. This is positive motivation, not an insult.
A Mod/Admin replied on 5/16/2011 2:30:05 PM In the United States, homosexuals are actually not allowed to marry (it's not a 50 state thing, so the default is restricted) or donate blood (per mandate of the CDC). So for you to tell a guy who is openly gay on the boards that he can do those things it can only be seen as trolling since he can't just go and do those things. Obviously when you say something like this, it only serves to annoy, offend, and incense the target, so just don't do it. Thanks.
Silly gays are so cowardly, and the pc mods are so trigger happy...

His post didn't mention anything about being gay, for all I know he could want to marry a chair. For him to say he can't get married at all is an outright lie, unless he proves the government is stopping him from marrying everyone/everything, which he has failed to do.
He could donate blood if he changed. He could adopt, if he changed. I did not say he MUST change, I was just pointing this out as a possibility. It's reasonable to say that he COULD do these things.
A Mod/Admin replied on 5/17/2011 1:24:25 PM Nah, I agree here that this is a violation. In many states in the US homosexual people are not allowed to get married, and they are not allowed to give blood. If you didn't know what the guy was talking about, you should have asked him instead of bluntly telling him he could.
Posting false information as fact is trolling. Also, saying he could if he 'changes'? You mean if he stops being homosexual? I'm afraid sexuality doesn't work like that.
False information as fact? Sexuality not working like that? I object to these allegations.

"Posting false information as fact is trolling." I was not posting any false information for reasons stated in previous appeals. It's not incorrect to say that he COULD do these things. He may choose not to, but the option is open. Maybe if he said he was barred from gay marriage specifically but he stated marriage in general, which is false information on his part. Would I be modded for telling a minor that they COULD get married someday? How about for telling someone who can't play the piano that he could learn? Someone could ride a rollercoaster if he met the height requirements? "Also, saying he could if he 'changes'? You mean if he stops being homosexual? I'm afraid sexuality doesn't work like that." This is going into a political argument but if it helps here's some rationale behind my position: www.drtraycehansen.com/Pages/writings_legalizing.htmlI have not seen conclusive evidence that sexuality is fixed from birth. It should not be trolling to suggest that environmental factors are at work and that a person's sexuality is fluid. To say he could change is not a lie. It's an option I presented, not a command. But I left this so open that he doesn't even have to do that. He could keep his orientation and marry some lady he doesn't love, I dunno. He could lie when giving blood. Or maybe it'd be more realistic to try and wait a bit, see if gay marriage is legalized. My statement didnt have a time limit so previous mods implying a sense of urgency, "he can't just go and do those things" is one heck of an assumption to make and puts words in my mouth. Besides, I don't know how one could just go and adopt someone that quickly through the current requirements, either. My statement was so darned vague I could be agreeing with him. "Pretty sure you could...if there wasn't an oppressive establishment stopping you." Am I to blame when people are a bit too trigger happy and assume the negative? Dearest admin, if you have the time and the inclination (assuming this is to be upheld), may I please see an example of how to say what I said in the most politically correct, bending-over-backwards way possible so I can avoid a similar tragedy next time? A Mod/Admin replied on 5/17/2011 7:40:33 PM There isn't a PC way to tell someone they can choose to stop being gay.

Jan Brewer sues to prevent medical marijuana law from going into effect.
Tails82 says Brewer is upholding the law, just like with SB1070 so it is no surprise an immoral society would disapprove of her.

Marriage gets benefits because it leads to a societal benefit when families stay together and parents look after their children. Gay marriage does not provide the same societal benefits and instead works to undermine the institution of marriage by equating it with sodomy.
lol warned in 5 minutes That's okay pal, don't bother to debate just silence me.

This is a much better argument against gay marriage than all your silly benefits, and family, and unnatural comments.

Ahh, I got warned again by those thin skins for saying we should celebrate the 4th of July by nuking the US. If that's not mod bias I don't know what is.
