I was also in Link to the Past but then there was this snake enemy with these big, black beady eyes who I couldn't kill, and then he knocked me back and I rolled all the way back to the other wall of the cave. Then it went 3D and there was another one in this big sterile white lab, and I was worried about getting a venomous bite so I got out of there.

Two nights in a row I've had nightmares that involved violent murder.

I had a dream about a festival and a book sale that was happening to 3pm and it was only noon so my cousin and I had a lot of time to check out the abandoned tower where the city kept a run-down Batmobile from the 1930s (it was covered in dust and we could only look down on the garage from an equally filthy window). Then all of a sudden it was almost 3pm and we missed everything, also our path was blocked because there was a burning building on the street so that pretty much ended everything.

It all started with Jen asking me and a bunch of people about naming pokemon after them. She was playing Gen 1, but it turned out to be a hack of Gen 1, with improved graphics, fixed glitches, and Gen 2 added in. Naturally, I was interested, so off I go to try it out.

What follows is me vividly playing through such a hack. I end up catching a pidgeotto that carries me through the game, I run into a wild charizard, I sequence break mount moon, and I end up finding Blastoise in a Rock Smash rock, who I catch. I look up the website hosting the hack and the creator talks about being able to catch blastoise at level 1 and competitive sets to run for it, a lot of which people apparently name after spongebob characters. Then he talks about hitting him up if you find a suitable competitive set to name after "Florence the Wizard", who I then look up on the spongebob wiki.

He looks like an entirely yellow cartoon dog with candles on his head and a wizard robe. There were apparently 2 Spongebob episodes about him, the first one I hadn't seen, which involved flashbacks to his ancestors. But the second one I did end up seeing. The wiki called it an episode where spongebob put his foot down for once in his life and stood for something. I ended up watching it at a weekly hangout I do with my friends and I. In the episode, florence, clearly drunk (which I thought was a good example of getting past censors) rants and raves, one of the things he mentions is 2 of his ancestors (who were husband and wife) being brother and sister (another example of getting past censors, though it may not be true). Apparently there's a whole community of wizards (or people trying to be wizards), of which Squidward is one of them, and he's just causing a lot of problems and being a general annoyance. Spongebob appears to try and help Florence out, but gets so fed up that he starts yelling at Florence and puts him in his place, telling him he's a nuisance who gets in the way of the other wizards. Squidward is clearly impressed at Spongebob. This causes a whole mob with pitchforks and torches to rise up and charge florence, where they repeatedly torch him. This does nothing but make the candles on his head burn with a larger flame, though. Then they leave and he just looks dejected and sad.

This made ME flashback as well. Flashback to an earlier hangout. My friend's little brother had a dog (only in the dream, not in real life) and he ended up being a huge problem, climbing on the kitchen counter, knocking over furniture, breaking things, and my friend's parents ended up yelling at the dog and saying pretty much the same thing spongebob said to florence, causing the dog to run away. We hadn't seen him since.

But then the week after, I saw the dog on the way to his house, now twice as large but clearly the same dog, looking sad. I tried telling my friends but they didn't believe it could be the same dog.

Next week comes by and I decide to stakeout the area to look for the dog. I decide it must return to the area shortly before it's time for my friends and I to come over and ring the bell in the hopes we see it. Many hours before I go to Sam's house, I go to a school a block away from his house and enter, deciding to just hang out in the library there. I leave my stuff: my bag and a TON of games in a locker. Turns out the library is now a classroom, and the new library is somewhere else, so I check out the new library, and decide it's shitty. So I go back and I check and I realize only a third of the library was made a a classroom. The other 2 thirds are just empty rooms with benches. I take a nap in one of them, getting a blanket from somewhere. Eventually I wake up and get ready to go to my friend's house. First I need to grab my stuff though, but the locker room is apparently locked because of construction. I ask about my stuff and me and a bunch of other people go to another room where things from lockers are just emptied out into 2 big bins and we have to search for them. My panic starts rising as I realize all my games were loose and someone could have taken them and claimed they were his. I ask someone managing the bins if they saw a plain black Jansport, but as I was saying that I noticed it and picked it up, and sure enough every game was under it. I counted it through and through, relieved they were all there, though I couldn't shake the feeling someone might have taken ONE of them. Another friend of mine tells me about getting a replacement game for me, at least if my missing game was pokemon. I leave the building and walk to my friend's house.

The door's open so I just quietly make my way up his stairs, only to realize I'm an hour early, so I try quietly going back down but his parents notice me and I say "I'm too early aren't I?" They agree, and I tell them I have something else I need to do in the area anyway and leave.

I go back to the school and go to the same empty room and nap again, then I leave the school. I walk towards my friend's house and when I get there I notice my friend's little brother, and his friend, leaving the house and going in the direction I came from. I turn around to go after them in the hopes that maybe I can find the dog too. When they reach the school they turn around and I do too, but they notice me and ask if I was following them. I say "no I forgot something." Sure enough I apparently did, because now I was barefoot and my shoes were right there in front of the school. I wonder why I would ever take my shoes off outside. But I put them on and end up just going to my friend's house and hanging out.

We end up looking up and talking about how apparently someone's TF2 records corresponds with their political leanings, with shittier players who play less leaning right and skilled players leaning left. I laugh at the idea because I point out that means I'm right leaning, which I'm not, I'm just bad at shooters.

The dream ends there.

ANNOTATIONS

1: Jen DID ask me about naming a party member after myself in a ROM hack, but in actuality it was a Final Fantasy 1 improvement hack that fixed glitches. I was interested in trying it but nothing more.

2: Yesterday I was talking about the spongebob musical with some online friends, in particular about Plankton. I guess that carried over into being spongebob in general.

3: I'm pretty sure the name Florence came from Florence and the Machine. I looked it up and there actually isn't any spongebob character by that name.

4: I follow Anthony Clark, the guy who does Nedroid, on twitter, and he's been drawing wizards daily. I guess that's where the general theme of wizards came from.

5: Yesterday I was telling my sister about how my friend's brother stopped and started petting a dog while exclaiming "look at that pupper! Doggy!" while we were walking somewhere. I also ended up seeing a LOT of dog pictures yesterday, and a couple of them involved dogs getting bigger, and also dogs looking sad. And one of them was a gif of a dog walking on a countertop and knocking glasses and things over.

6: There IS a school near my friend's house, but it's next to his house, not a block away. I worked there for a time, it's an elementary school.

7: I've been going to the library a lot lately, both in school and a standalone library near my house.

8: Going to empty rooms and things just to take a nap is something I do at my college.

9: I've been worrying a lot about if I were to give up or lose any of my games. I have a huge collection and would rather nothing happen to them. I guess that fear manifested itself in my dream.

10: The friend that was willing to replace my pokemon game, he actually gave me the latest pokemon game for free recently.

11: Been seeing memes about gamers and how they can be stereotypically all over the political spectrum recently.

I was a pilot for an Earth-made Voltron that functioned as a combination of the Dairugger version and the planned Albegas one: three separate ships pertaining to Land, Sea, and Air that can be put together in a variety of different configurations for use in different applications. I was the Land pilot, and for whatever reason I was riding backseat to the Sky pilot while we were discussing the different features of our Voltron. At one point I leaned forward and said to him, "And you know what the best part is? Anyone can form the head."

While passing by a naval yard, we noticed that one of the ships had taken on some creature-like aspects, as it seemed to have robotic arms, legs, and a head, and was milling about as though it were lost and confused. We didn't give it too much thought until the Sea pilot asked us to rendezvous with him at the yard. Apparently this wasn't normal.

The conclusion we came to was that it wasn't hostile and needed to be assisted in some way. Except the Sea pilot had was get together under the water, and as soon as I stepped out, fancy scifi pilot gear and all, I began suffocating. And I couldn't get it across to my other two teammates that I am the land pilot and will drown in water.

The highway closed down for some reason and we all had to wait in this giant canvas tent rest stop. It was fairly dark in there, darkish orange. Then everyone from work was there too because I guess they went on a road trip. Later on I went looking for a restroom and found the worst one ever. Inside a really small room of some restaurant, with booths on the other side of it, with a clear glass wall and a bunch of people staring through, with one of them staring at me the whole time but saying don't worry he'll never tell. Gee, thanks? So I end up getting out of there to the next room where there's a bunch of people playing pokeyman tournament. I tell the story of the worst bathroom ever to somebody else and then wanna go home, but don't have my keys. I am graciously allowed to borrow a set that will fly me home and also do other magic tricks, if I can figure them out. I try driving like an invisible car but don't know the invisible brakes so I skid around like I'm on ice a lot. So I just decide to fly and not crash into things, although the fall damage would be bad too I imagine. I fly low and fast across a lake and then zip into the air, slowly descend to land on somebody's cottage. Next town over (cottage and lake do not exist there in real life). And that's as far as I got.

I was taking a trip in Japan and had an emotional breakdown over some missing luggage.

Inside a winter home somewhere and I get a call on the phone. "Don't let them start a fire, and keep answering these calls." I had no idea what he was talking about I just wanted to get home. But then I find out I'm on the side of a mountain range and there is an army of gnomes ready to invade. By the time I get back to the house they have already started a fire and made it a base of operations. Luckily for me they have no idea what I'm doing there either, and spend most of their time partying and trashing the place. I had to put the fire out because they would die if they got cold. So I did but then got questioned by a human from behind the counter. I was gonna free him from gnome slavery but he turned out to be a willing servant and he was blocking my way. So I started hitting him with xylophone mallets which didn't do much so he began to laugh at me - until I took one of the sticks and impaled him through the neck.

I was trying to sleep, but the ghost of Martin Luther King Jr. kept me awake by trying to give me some life advice that was just a tad too generic for my liking. The next day I slapped a high school kid for calling me autistic.

I pooped so hard I was lifted off the toilet seat.

The government is angry at like, mega corporations and increased violent gang activity and stuff and so they set up giant statues in every major city equiped with something called X7 (short for Index 7) lazers. In order to prevent that I join a group dedicated to solving problems before we get to that point. We meet up in a park near my house, a dedicated safe zone, and it turns out they built underground rooms for us to go back to. I get to check out mine, but then I don't get a key. I ask why and it turns out I have to pay extra.
Me: "But I already payed for the room!"

Then: "Well the door's kinda busted, so we'll give you a discount on the room but you have to pay extra for the key"

I still didn't understand but it was whatever. The room was actually quite spacious, with a good bed, some books, a TV and game consoles and even controllers. I decide to keep the hidden trap door unlocked and leave an extra key inside the room.

There's a timeskip. At this point it's easier to say that we're close to the day of X7. In this case it's the day of. I have to help my family pack stuff for that day. They always do things last minute. I'm worried because I'm not exactly sure what X7 lasers do. Do they destroy buildings? Kill people? Not sure, I just know something's lost. Packing is annoying. I have to pack all sorts of weird stuff like bits of hair (as a way to keep DNA around). I manage to finish anyway. Accidentally splash some dirty water from the turtle tank on my sister though and she gets angry.

Oh yeah, for some reason we're living at our old apartment building. I bring all the boxes to the car but now I have to help my mom get to the car. She's really uncooperative though, and it's too late: X7 happens. We look up at the giant monolith that's supposed to fire them off, and it does so with 3 lasers on they left and right side fanning out, and one more on top... but none in our direction. Nothing happens to us. I'm not sure about the rest of the city. We decide to get everyone back inside. Because of all the gang violence it's dangerous to go outside at all, after all. We end up sleeping the night away.

In the morning we're surprised to see that everything's still standing. I make my way to the park to meet up with the group. Apparently I hadn't been there for a while and my friend Lemuel tells me he's been using my room so it's been unlocked. I didn't even tell him about the extra key. I go inside and there's a girl on a computer there, but ignoring her everything else is basically untouched. I leave the room and get ready to get to work to prevent the next time the lasers fire off, apparently now known as X8. I can only assume that means an extra laser, and we won't be so lucky next time.

Honestly I can't even annotate this one. There's not enough info to go off. It's mostly just implied dystopia and I have no idea where it came from.

Oh yeah and for some reason after waking up a bunch of memories (which I don't even know if they're real or fake) started coming up and as of the time of this writing are still coming up in my head of places around the city that I've been to before and like, and the feeling that I wish to see them again, as well as their general location.

The thing is I'm pretty sure many of these areas either don't exist or aren't in those locations.

1: A beautiful school. I don't remember much else. But in order to run into it I have to walk down to my old middle school and head right. I know that doesn't work because that's where my old house (the one in the dream) is, not some other school. But it's in my head right now like it's a place i remember being.

2: This like, "inner city" block that's surrounded by traffic and bus stops and a train station, it's the only block with short buildings, with a bodega right in the middle. The streets are wide and I remember it being a place that feels far away but it turns out I can walk to it with no problem and it's a good bodega to get to. I have to head south of my house in order to get there. I do that a lot and I've never been to an area quite like that, yet somehow I "remember" it?

3: More of a route. I have to head north of the library next to the park and I should pass by a building with a gimmick fountain with water sprouting up in a pattern, and then a weird area where like 6 streets meet with a small, triangle shaped park in between 2 of the streets. On the one hand I feel like this might actually exist, on the other hand i feel like it's not in that area at all, I've been that way recently and it doesn't quite have anything like that.

4: If I head to the left from my house and get to the end of the block and turn right and just keep heading down the street there I'll eventually get to the point where the road curves to the right and just stops, making an enclosed area with a bunch of houses. There's a bus stop there. I specifically remember going there one time some years back with a hoodie and a scarf in front of my face and just hanging out and walking around and realizing i must have looked really suspicious and left. The feeling of this memory is that it DEFINITELY happened, however I know no such place exists in that direction: That direction leads to my alternate train station so I know it well enough to know there's no dead end or enclosed street. I'm even looking at google maps right now and there's no dead end/enclosed area near me. It must have happened elsewhere.

Maybe I'm remembering how the city layout was different in my dream?
