It'd be easier to convince everyone to disarm, but not really disarm ourselves

This topic is as crazy as putting the month first then the day. Wtf is up with that. Instead of doing the sensible thing and doing it from smallest to biggest it's messed up. You Americans should write the time as minutes hours and seconds while your at it.

You Americans should write the time as minutes hours and seconds while your at it. And yet isn't it better to start broad and work your way down? The reason the year is written last is because it's a little too broad... Seriously, putting the day first doesn't give me a whole lot of chronological context.

broad?? what are you talking about? According to your argument of starting small and going big, five thousand six hundred twenty one would be written out as 1265. But we don't. We write out the thousands, then the hundreds, then the tens, and lastly the ones. You start big and get smaller. Comparatively, the most sensical way to write out a date would be yy/mm/dd, but the year is far too broad a time unit to be contemporarily practical; it's good to include for future generations, but immediately speaking, it's no use. Thus it gets shunted to the end. And thus you have mm/dd/yy.

Riiight... Big to small was is good too, I'm just saying it's got some sort of order. But then immediately speaking having the day would be best to have first. Everyone knows what year it is, and the month, but whats today's date? That changes every day and is the most important thing you need to write down for day to day use.

But what if people don't really care about being that specific? "This month" is good enough quite often, and, if needed, they can easily check the date.
Ultimately, it boils down to what you're used to. I'm just defending it so as to not be completely written off. (:
Anyway, I have hygiene and work to attend to. See you all later!
