I guess some people might want to hide because well as you said 'murca! I one had a guy say he was going to find me and kill me. He said he had all kinds of guns and went hunting and killing animals and would do the same to me because I beat him at COD4. Was he serious, and would he try find me if I lived in the same country? Hard to say, but since he was from 'murca! I'd say probably crazy.

first or last name? I always display my first name because I've no qualms with people knowing or finding that, hell, once I get to know someone a bit I tend to prefer they use that a handle is only for those fucks who I don't know at all

last name, no, I keep that to myself until I know people fairly well, less to do with me and more to do with the fact that one's last name isn't just their own but family's as well

I don't mind people knowing my last name, but the fact that they would specifically want to would be kinda weird, so if they asked I wouldn't tell 'em and if they don't ask well, why would I tell them?

Catch-22= people only find out my last name if they friend me on Facebook or something.

I know TWO peoples last name on this board, excluding myself.

Nobody will find my last name by friending me on Facebook, because I use my stepfather's last name there.

However, if you check my Bitbucket repository for Cog, or check the code signature on anything I've published recently, you'll find my full name attached. Verified by StartCom, who will now be retaining scans of my California State ID, birth certificate, and original Social Security card for the next seven years, because of some Israeli laws pertaining to document retention.

And to renew that validation for another year, I'll have to send them the same crap all over again. I'll just send them the same scans again, since my ID doesn't expire for at least another year.
