How do you feel about the current trend of figurine-based video games like Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and Pokemon Rumble U?
Figures are cool. Some nerds buy figures that dont even connect to play a game! But they are pretty expensive though. So... unless they make a game with cool dude figures and not just crappy characters I don't care.

[6:46:48 PM] Jen: "Collect them all!" is a solid business plan, but hardly worth it for a consumer.

I kinda like figurines, and at least it's better value than paying for game-enhanced trading cards or DLC. But overall a huge ripoff.

It's a cool idea. I won't do it, but I think it's cool that games are doing it.

I have no idea what this thing is supposed to do.
Like, generally, a mouse/keyboard is one X/Y tracking input and tons of buttons. They removed almost every button and tossed in three touchpads.

"steam console" is a pc running SteamOS, a linux based OS it's not a specific set of hardware
as for the controller, touch pads worry me because they can't really take the beating analog sticks can and at a glance the controller looks horrid but until I hold one I wont pass judgement they also didnt remove many buttons at all compared to other gamepads

The touch pads have to be pretty durable, I'd think, since all three of them are apparently also buttons you can press.
My problem with it is that they're marketing it as some sorta ultimate in-between of mouse/keyboard and console control pad when in reality the entire controller has fewer buttons than my mouse alone while requiring both hands.

From what I read, my interpretation isn't that they were going for any 'ultimate in-between of mouse/keyboard and console control pad' but rather just a console control pad with (something closer to) the precision of a mouse and enough that the basic control schemes for most (valve) games will easily translate
obviously a mouse and keyboard will always vastly outnumber the number of buttons on a pad that being said, someone plays SC2 (one of the most hotkey intensive games I can think of) in masters league using a 360 pad with some custom binds, since a controller doesn't physically have 100+ keys like a keyboard does you just end up having to use more modifiers. If anyone is interested I'll try and look the guy up, his setup is actually pretty cool
and while the touch pads have to be pretty durable, and probably will be, I can't picture a touch pad being durable enough to deal with something as fast as DMC or smash (melee) but hey ynever know

Do you play more single player or multiplayer games?Mostly single player games. I like them more because I can play at my own pace. Explore and junk. Stories are all good. But I like MP games too. Used to be super good at the original Call of Duty games. They were pretty fun. I did not really like Halo, games where you use a mag to take out one guy is pretty BS because if his mate is behind him you're screwed. So I like games where you kill in 1-2 hits, gotta be more accurate I guess. Oh I'll tell you whats aces MP. Splinter Cell spys Vs Mercs. That is so much fun. It's pretty intense cos the spys are all in the shadows and shit and you're like aww where are they at. And you're looking up all in the corners and junk like everwhere. And then you see something move and you're like oh crap whats that! And sometimes you're just shooting at nothing or its you're own guy, but you can't team kill so it's all good. Or if you're a spy and you're like creeping in the shadows and shit but you have all your gadgets and you can see where those mercs are in the dark but they can't see you and then you like climb up in a ledge or something and then jump down on them like HIYAA! It's pretty blanaced though. Every gadget on one team has something to counter it. Just depends if you happen to be using it in the set up. And spys are fast and are in 3rd person but mercs first person are slow but have body armour. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhhx2qk5cgII used to play a lot of co-op. I had a friend I'd play co-op games with all the time and it was fun and we would talk to each other on mics and stuff, and I had a lot of gaming friends I'd talk to and we would have gaming nights online, but them my friend broke up with her boyfriend and things changed and well you can't keep things forever and no it never happens. I don't like talking in games anymore. Im shy I guess. Plus I don't want people to abuse me. There are some creepy guys. But one time I did hit on this guy because he had a sexy voice. So in conclision I like both. Hmm.

Mostly multiplayer, although my favorite games are primarily single player These days I prefer my single player games to be short, I only really bother playing alone when no one else is around (single player games are always there, but people aren't always online), so it's nice to be able to get the entire experience the game has to offer in a night or two and single player games are awesome, and the good ones are experiences that multiplayer would potentially ruin, they're immersive storytelling and it's a medium and an art form that can make the player experience so much
but like I said, I mostly play multiplayer games these days simply because games have become a social experience for me while an amazing single player game is wonderful they're a rare experience and the vast majority of the time I'm playing a game it's not because it's fun itself but rather it's fun to do shit with buddies (or fun to compete, or both) so if people I like are around I'd much rather do shit with them than sit alone
idk, I dislike multiplayer stuff with random people as I'm antisocial but gaming is just a fun social thing to do and it's pretty much the only way I'm anything that remotely resembles social these days
also, while single player experiences can be really memorable and emotional, I have never laughed as hard in my life as cooping Trine 2 with Chupes and Rince
