You look at Amar'e and the mess he's made. McGee does stupid stuff too, but at least he doesn't damage things that belong to other people. Luckily, today's session is almost over.
You walk over to one of the bleachers and reach under it to get a first aid kit. "Come on, Amar'e. The cut isn't that bad."
Amar'e comes over to sit down next to you. You wrap his hand while he stares at the ground.
"Do you think Carmelo's better than me?"
"I'm not concerned about Carmelo right now."
"I don't like how he gets to shoot the ball more than I do."
"Well, maybe you should focus on other things besides shooting the ball."
"Nah."
You sigh and finish wrapping his hand. "Anyway, learning how to learn defense really isn't that hard."
"If it's not that hard, then how come Carmelo--a superstar--hasn't learned yet?"
"Stop worrying about Carmelo. If your teammates see you focusing and committing to defense, then they'll do it, too."
Amar'e stops asking questions, so you start teaching him how to learn.
"Ohhhhh," Amar'e says after a few minutes. "So all I have to do is follow your directions?"
"That's basically it," You answer.
"29-year-old Amar'e Stoudemire has a lot going on. He loves to read. He's a great dad. And he likes to play basketball with the New York Knicks--but just for money. But when three bullies start dominating the Knicks every time they play, there is only one solution. Amar'e must step in, conquer the monster of 'Defense', and use his athletic ability and intelligence to save the day--or at least avoid a sweep. This experience--"
"Let's call it a day, Amar'e." You still can't understand what's so complicated about playing defense, but you decide that Amar'e's done enough training for today. He picks up his bag and goes home, and you do the same.
You get home, put your stuff down, and head towards the kitchen. You open the fridge to get a bottle of Gatorade out, and as you close it, you look to see who you'll be working with tomorrow. Next student is...
A) Joakim Noah
B) JaVale McGee
C) Other
I'll try not to do more than 2-3 updates that involve the same player, because I figured that 10 posts in a row about Amar'e would get boring after awhile.

I'm happy you enjoyed it, and thanks again for posting for me.
One of these days I'm gonna actually put some time into a CYOA and make it the best it can be instead of just starting one when I have too much free time.

JaVale McGee! He's the butt of many (funny) NBA-related jokes, but you believe that you can help him reach his full potential.
After you finish your bottle of Gatorade, you clean the kitchen (without moving your pivot foot, of course) and take out the trash. After you finish straightening up the rest of your house, you order some Chinese food (Sesame Chicken. Eff pork) and relax for the rest of the evening.
You're in the middle of a Jeremy Lin highlight video when you hear the doorbell ring. Slightly irritated that someone would approach your house at 11 PM, you pause your video, put down your food, and cautiously walk to the door.
"Who is it?" You call out, while looking through the peephole. However, you can't see anything. Seems like someone's blocking it.
"It's me, McGee!" A voice calls out. "I can't see you!"
You open your door, and JaVale Lindy McGee stumbles into your house.
"I couldn't see you through the hole, man," McGee says, getting up. "My mom thought I might be at the wrong house."
"The peephole only works one way, JaVale," you say, closing the door.
"Guess you need to get a new one then."
"JaVale, why are you here at such a late hour?"
"Well, I went to the ranch, and you weren't there. So I came here."
"Training isn't until another twelve hours."
"Excuse me for a sec." JaVale walks back outside the door. "Mom!" He calls to the car. "I'm s'posed to be here at 11 in the morning."
"Dammit JaVale!" His mom yells. "You can't have me wastin' all my gas like this! I knew this man wouldn't have you in his house at 11 at night!"
"I'm sorry--"
"'Sorry' ain't gonna pay for all this gas, JaVale! This is premium! Premium gas! PREMIUM!"
JaVale and his angry mother are arguing in your driveway, and your neighborhoods are beginning to come outside to observe. What do you do?
A) Tell them to leave before one of your neighbors calls the cops
B) Tell JaVale's mom that he can spend the night and you'll drive him to the ranch tomorrow
C) Sit by your window and eat Nilla wafers while you watch JaVale and his mom argue
D) Other
