Honestly not sure how that's gonna go down. I'd expect full games to get pretty darn sizable in downloadable taking-disc-space form.

Cutting the middlemen out of selling and making people buy more storage space, sounds like typical Ninty to me.

"making people buy more storage space" in "expected result of downloadable media" shocker.
Now if they pull some shit like Sony does with their proprietary media sticks, THEN it'll be worth getting upset over.

brick and mortar game game stores suck enough that I don't mind this at all large game store franchises repeatedly try to fuck over game producers/developers and do everything in their power to push the sales of used games (as the developers see none of that money) so meh, I'm okay with things eventually going completely digital, it's not ideal but it's the lesser evil compared to the current state of things just don't think it's time for that yet, as internet speeds in many places aren't up to par yet, but still, it is the eventual future of things (imo)

I don't like digital DLs for several reasons. 1 bandwith and DL speeds suck 2 how can someone be a collector if you can't put it on display 3 you don't own it. I can play my Megadrive console from 21 years ago because I own the games and platform. What happens when the digital distributor goes offline and you can't redownload the game you paid for 10 years from now. A lot of games require a constant connection as an anti piracy thing. What if the servers are down. 4 digital downloads directly from Microsoft, Sony etc are always over priced and hardly ever come down in price. IF they do it's still cheaper to buy it from a shop. Steam is different because they don't own the system you play on so they can't control prices and have a monopoly on the content. 5 not being able to bring my games over to a friend house or lending them games sucks. So I hope it's never fully digital.

Imagine if in the future you have blank disks that come with the system that you install downloaded games on to

1. This is why now is not the time for a full on switch to digital 2. This can be argued 3. You don't own most games these days anyway, even if you buy them on the disc, you pay for the ability to use them (at least when it comes to multiplayer games) 4. Sales exist and there's competition in the market, fully digital does not mean purely from Microsoft/Sony/etc., for example at some point I read EA was trying to get origin on the wii u, I pray to god this never happens but yeah. As it stands steam holds too much power though, luckily valve es a pretty cool company, but regardless there will be a competition of some sort, I'm certain of that (arguably more than there is with brick and mortar stores now). Oh, and prices in stores dont drop any sooner than prices from digital distributers, unless you're buying used which is bad because it hurts the developers and such so I'm discounting that option as the scummy thing to do in most cases 5. About the only point you made I agree with completely
While at first I disliked the idea I'm now fairly okay with things going fully digital eventually
also, blank discs would be terrible......I'm just hoping for more solid state memory 'cause load times

If you look at the prices Sony and MS sell their digital downloads you will see most old games are still full price and ones that are not either suck or are still well over what they sell for in actual shops.
Games I buy in shops for $10-20 are still $60 (NZD) on Xbox's games on demand service.
And Sony and Xbox are not gonna go giving their share of profilts to someother company if they can keep the downloads exclusive to their service. Which they can do because they own the consoles. If the digital download on the xbox is too expensive you would have no where else to go if physical copies did not exist apart from maybe a different console if you could afford more than one..

I want to continue to argue this but I'm too tired to craft an argument so remind me about this sometime after I hopefully have some sleep in my system

Imagine if in the future you have blank disks that come with the system that you install downloaded games on to Sure maybe sometime in the future in the year 1995. I dunno, it just seemed like a compromise You download the game, you own it (instead of the game being licensed to you like most downloads) in physical form by putting it on a disk Also, considering Nintendo's new Nintendo Network it's gonna have in the future, downloads might be linked to an account, so I doubt you'd lose a game once they discontinue the online service of a previous system.

Yeah. Im just meaning I used to download games and put them onto discs and run them off it. It was cool when you could install games to as many computers as you liked too. Good times. I want to continue to argue this but I'm too tired to craft an argument so remind me about this sometime after I hopefully have some sleep in my system No don't bother replying to me. I don't want to "argue" with you. I don't care what you have to say and will no longer reply to the subject or read any posts relating to what I said.

in that case, remind me to rant about people who just ignore things because they don't like or agree with them well, actually it's more the desire to rant about people using the 'ignore' button in games but I'm just not motivated to go off on the issue right now also, fuck the LoL community
but really it doesnt matter if you want to argue with someone or not, in life, because if your point relies on a statement you make and that statement is disproven your point fails and you have to either concede it or proceed to argue because "lalalaI'mnotlistening" holds no validity and now I feel like spewing hatred of people but meh not enough to bother trying to craft thoughts while sleep deprived
well, actually there's the third option of just telling the other person to go fuck themselves because they aren't worth the effort but that doesnt really work if you're trying to be civil about things and it's probably why I dislike the whole ignoring thing, because it's basically the other individual trying to mask the fact that they're saying "fuck off"
I had more to say but got distracted 'cause the mahvel stream I'm watching on the other half of my stream had a sick team with Haggar and Dorm and my whole train of thought is shattered

No it's not like that. It's the fact I don't care about the topic enough to talk about it anymore than I have. You can't win or lose an argument thats based on opinion and conjecture (which is what this is. We don't know whats gonna happen in the future and all we can do is guess). Sorry but I've got more important things to do and care about. Arguing on the internet about the most inane things is the biggest exercise in pointlessness. See I'm the type of person who will say their bit. Then if someone thinks differently then thats ok to say. But I don't wanna keep going on and on and on. I just accept what they say and move on. It's not ignoring them. I already got that you are ok with digital downloads. But when you said you wanted "craft an argument" It sounded like you wanted to have a big conversation about something I don't care about. So I just wanted to let you know I don't care about it. Nothing personal, did not matter who on here wanted to argue I'd tell them the same thing. Unless it's Jake. He's fun to argue and troll. ;D
