Yay I don't have to take questions about eclipse glasses anymore. No, I cannot magically produce more for you just because you walked past the multiple signs that told you this. And omfg the jockeying for the last few dozen. We limited to one per family with what was left, so we got the excuses why they needed more. Multiple "I lost my ticket and need a new one" in the five steps between the desk and the glasses. We need a list of who was here first! For the people who are committed to show up an hour in advance but then don't want to wait in line for it. They're 2 bucks at the store people, seriously. I hope it's cloudy that day. Screw science.

So Firefox stopped crashing when I moved my hoarded bookmarks into several folders, so they don't burden the thing so much loading up.
I thought the same thing could be happening with images (just started happening). I said why not try redirecting saves to a new empty folder and try that. Still crashes first time I try to save an image.
Firefox really seems to hate certain images/sites. And I don't mean weird out of the way creepy things! I mean like that time on my last computer where it'd freeze the PC for 3-5 minutes every time I went on a common news site. Not a problem on this computer today. It still doesn't like stuff that goes on in the background, sometimes not twitter pages. Something about videos...oh yeah, if I got youtube going on one side and that other stuff on the other side, sometimes it'll freeze up - video still plays until it hits buffer spot - then it's useless until I end task. Sometimes image-heavy page causes the top line of each tab to disappear, window will randomly turn to black until resized, eventually crashes on its own.
So I hear Firefox is phasing out legacy things and the few addons I got are all legacy. Well then. Ideas for browsers that won't crash at least once a day?

Sounds like you need to lose/update/replace some extensions, really. developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Working_with_multiprocess_FirefoxMy ancient PC is running Firefox Dev Edition 54.0b14 (64-bit), aka the last version to have full support for "Legacy" addons, and it works fine. Aside from that gfycat "can't just display the gif or mp4 like a sane site" bullshit and twitch.tv in general, but that's more their sites having trash video loaders than anything else. |
