Pretty sure staple American foods are 90% food additives, don't see how they're banned.

Perhaps but again people will kick off if alcohol is banned, whereas I doubt anyone but a tiny amount of small government freaks would ever go to the trouble of shipping in and adding illegal trans fats to their food.
