I think it already did back in the day, that's why they have that weird tension going on. Cept they just had different goals for their society and there can only be one false god.

Also, I'm thinking Alicorns and Dragoneqqus' were both engineered by forgotten magic by the psuedo-Grecian nations. Possibly it would be a nice dynamic if two came from opposing states. They were supposed to be the champion warriors of their nations but they could only fight each other to a standstill, so the ponies used their group magic to create what is an obvious allegory for nuclear weapons and used them, knocking the Pony Earth out of orbit and out of rotation for weeks or months before the Alicorns and Drgeqs came together to move the sun and moon across the sky. I haven't decided yet if the Celestia and Discord themselves had been around then but I'm thinking yes probably. Why is Discord the only Drgeq yet there are multiple Alicorns, I don't know. I'll have to figure that out, perhaps the rest were killed or perhaps there was only ever Celestia and Discord but Celestia can reproduce somehow and Discord can't.
